Ahu O Laka report to KBRC

DLNR reported on the status of, and recommendations for security and enforcement on Ahu O Laka. Ahu o Laka is unencumbered state lands, which means that very few regulations applying to activities there.

They express the opinion that most of the disorderly conduct problems are related to excessive drinking. They plan an intensified enforcement program this summer to attempt to control boating while under the influence. They also said they are working with the county to identify drunken drivers leaving the harbor.

If these enforcement efforts are not successful in curbing disorderly conduct, they will be back in the fall with proposed regulations which will enable more effective enforcement.
