Summary of 10-16-08 Meeting

The Board of Water Supply describing the impact of drought on the windward Oahu. All of Windward water comes from the dike system in the Pali. The hydrology is such that water storage is much less than in other parts of the island. Prolonged drought has reduced our available water supply and the BWS has asked Windward Residents to reduce water use by 10%. For details click here and here

We received updated information about the Hawaii Memorial Park proposed expension. They have dropped the housing development and are reserving a corridor which includes major cultural features. For details click here and here .

The Report from Marine Corps Base - Hawaii is here. It is a notice that the medal provided to Sgt. Peralta will not be upgraded.

Guy Nakamoto expressed his concern with what he consiers miss mangement of our water supplies. He believes Windward Oahu has reached its ability to provide a sustainable water supply and that development should only permitted when it doesn't doesn't cause depletion of available water.
