Kaneohe Neighborhood Board met last night in the breezeway of Ben Parker School.  The cafetorium was locked up.

Action was taken to submit a letter of interest nominating Kaneohe to be a Blue Zone test community.  For more information click here.

Councilman Anderson reported that the Haiku Stairs Committee has submitted their recommendation and he will be working with the Board of Water Supply and the Mayor to implement those recommendations.  An access point has been identified that should eliminate trespass in the community.  A 24 hour guard has reduced trespass problems, but Anderson stated the status quo is not tenable and unless the situation can be resolved by spring of 2015 he will recommend the stairs be removed.

Bob Harter, C&C DEM, made a presentation on hurricane preparedness.  Click here for more information.

A representative from the Oahu Invasive Species Committee made announcement asking us to be on the lookout for the little fire ant.  We have infestations in Waimanalo and in Wailua that are being contained and eradicated.  Be particularly cautious when buying any plant material imported from the Big Island where the fire ant is established.

The little fire ant has a very nasty bite and can adversely affect our lives.  It will be pure hell for our pets and for wildlife.
