KANEOHE – KAILUA WASTEWATER CONVEYANCE AND TREATMENT FACILITIES PROJECT

PUBLIC INFORMATION / SCOPING MEETING 
The City & County of Honolulu Department of Environmental Services 
will conduct a Public Information/Scoping Meeting on the 

KANEOHE – KAILUA WASTEWATER CONVEYANCE AND  
TREATMENT FACILITIES PROJECT 
Kaneohe and Kailua, Island of Oahu 

The City and County of Honolulu Department of Environmental Services (ENV) is 
considering two alternatives to supplement an existing force main conveying wastewater 
from the Kaneohe Wastewater Pre-Treatment Plant near the Bayview Golf Course to the 
Kailua Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant in Aikahi.  The two alternatives are: 
1. A proposed new force main to be located below the seafloor of Kaneohe Bay; and 
2. A proposed new gravity tunnel to be located inland, beneath Oneawa Hills. 
As part of the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) process, a public 
information/scoping meeting will be held:

Availability of the Environmental Impact Statement Preparation Notice (EISPN) for public 
review was published in the July 8, 2010 edition of the Office of Environmental Quality 
Control’s The Environmental Notice.  

The EISPN was prepared to inform interested parties of the alternatives being considered and seek comments during the preparation of the forthcoming Draft EIS.  Comments will be accepted until October 12, 2010.
