HAM radio license

One of the most serious problems we have in make our neighborhoods more resilient after a storm is to be able to tell Civil Defense what we need.  When phones and cell phones are out of service HAM radio comes to the rescue. A central HAM communications center will be setup at Castle High School which will serve as the primary shelter for Kaneohe.  Neighborhood HAMs can communicate with the central communications center.  Family Service Radios (walkie-talkies) available at COSTCO for less than $70 for a pair can serve neighborhood communications but do not have the range to reach Castle High School. A network of neighborhood HAMs is the answer.

If you study diligently, the test is not hard.  There is no longer a requirement to know Morris Code.

Here are a few dates, times, and locations for upcoming classes and tests:

THIS.....Friday, March 6th:
Test date at Keolu LDS Chapel (across from the skate park).  Starts by 6:30pm.  Cost $15 (pass/fail)
Email Joe Speroni if attending NLT Wednesday, March 4thah0a@arrl.net  or joe@speroni.com
INFO NEEDED in your email:  First Name; Middle Initial(s); Last Name; Home Street Address; City; State and Zip Code....Also what License Test you'll be taking.
NOTE:  Social Security Number will be requested on the application.

NEW HAM Radio Class is Starting for TECHNICIAN License:  -  Interested in attending class or just taking the test...Contact Joe Speroni ASAP - Class Limited.
Mondays from March 9th to April 13th from 7pm-9pm at the Fleet Reserve Association at 891- Valkenburgh St (Across HFD training area off Nimitz and Makai of NEX)
Course is FREE....ARRL Technician Manual is required...and TEST Date is April 13th at 7pm.  Cost $15 (pass/fail)
REMEMBER:  For all tests with Joe Speroni.....he'll need your info at least 3 days in advance.

NOTE TO GENERAL OR EXTRA Licensees:
Windward Oahu would like to put together a list of Volunteer Examiners.  If interested, contact Frencha (for a class and application process-2 hours - more info to come).
General Licensees can only correct Technician Exams.
Extra Licensees can correct Tech, General and Extra Exams.
