Neighborhood Board Election Starts April 24

Voting starts Friday, April 24, for seats on the Kaneohe Neighborhood Board.

Ballots and voting instructions are being mailed to eligible voters by the Honolulu Neighborhood Commission Office.

Voters may cast their ballots online or by phone. The voting period runs through May 15. Successful candidates will take office in July and serve through June 30, 2017.

The Kaneohe Neighborhood Board has 17 seats, and there are candidates for 15 of them.

Five candidates are running for three at-large seats. All eligible voters in the Kaneohe District may vote for these seats.

Three sub-districts -- #3, #7 and #11 -- have contested races. Voters who live in these sub-districts may vote for these seats. You can check an online map and online street index to determine if you live in a sub-district with a contested race.

Two sub-districts, #5 and #9, have no candidates. The board is expected to seek volunteers to appoint to those seats.

More information about the election is available on the Neighborhood Commission website.
