Hector will visit.

Hector is a category 4 hurricane expected to pass south of the Big Island on Wednesday 8/8.

It should be far enough south of the islands that winds should not be damaging but we can expect heavy rains and flash flooding.

The Red Cross is tentatively planning to open a shelter at Kaneohe District Park sometime Wednesday. If you live in flood prone areas you should plan to take refuge with a friend or come to the shelter. Pack you go-bag now. Food, water, medicines, flashlight, Don't plan on cooking. Camping supplies for two days. Be minimalist. If a lot of people show up space could be severly limited. Plan on leaving most of your supplies in your car.

Don't forget your pets. Pets will be accepted if they are in crates. Have sanitary supplies for your pets and for your family.

Shelter in place if you can. If your home can be flooded seek shelter with friends, in a hotel or as a last resort come early to the Kaneohe District Park Shelter. There will be no supplies at the shelter. You have to provide for your families comfort. Don't forget a few games or a set of card to keep the kids occupied.

This is all tentative. We will have more information Tuesday evening.
