January 2020 KNB monthly meeting

                                 Board Chair, Mo Radke welcomes new board member Sam Malani

Here is a synopsis of this month's meeting:

1.  Sam Malani volunteered to serve on the board for Kapunahala subdistrict 8.  He was voted in unanimously - Welcome aboard Sam!

2.  During monthly reports, there is a pattern of questions relating to the ever-increasing "neighborhood" fireworks displays and people are genuinely concerned that rules effected are unenforceable or neighbors are not willing to identify other neighbors.  Rep. Matayoshi is introducing legislation to hopefully aerial products at the ports of entry.

3. State Hospital is looking at a color scheme that better fits the landscape.

4.  Jets will be returning to MCBH from 15 Feb through March.

5.  An informational briefing was delivered relating to Pu'u Ali'i condominium properties where a tree screen installed at initial construction has been partially removed by the residents in violation of city regulations.  A hearing by the DPP is scheduled for January 24.

6. Windward Emergency Fair Steering committee will meet January 22 at 6:30p at Key Project in Kahalu'u.  Windward Emergency preparedness Fair is tentatively scheduled for May 16th from 10a-2p at Windward Mall.

7.  Joint Outreach Center will have a service fair on January 24 starting at 9:30a.

8.  Meeting of the LUC relating to Hawaiian Memorial Park is scheduled for January 22 at Koolau ballroom from 9:30a-4p.

9.  Meeting to discuss an off-leash dog park will be held January 22 at Ben Parker Elementary School cafeteria at 6p.

10.  The 2020 census is upon us.  As virtual and face-to-face crime are on the increase, it will be very challenging for census takers to get real-time information.  It's important for the census to identify everyone so that appropriate funding can be obtained in Koolaupoko.  Make sure anyone that is a census taker properly identifies themselves with an authorized census ID.  A description of that ID will be discussed as soon as the board finds out what form it will take.  More to follow.
