Did you vote?

If you did not vote yet, visit www2.honolulu.gov/nbe with your passcode and the last four digits of your social security number. Your unique passcode was sent in the mail along with the candidate profiles.

Online voting will be available until 11:59p.m. on Friday, May 19.

If you have lost or misplaced your passcode, you may request a replacement in the mail by calling 768-3781. 

If you do not have acess to a computer and would like to request a paper ballot by mail, you may call the ballot request hotline at 768-3763. The last day for voters to request a paper ballot by mail is Monday, May 15 at 4:30p.m. Returned paper ballots must be postmarked by Friday, May 19 and received by the NCO no later than Friday, May 26. Returned paper ballots delivered in person must be received by the NCO office at 925 Dillingham Boulevard, Suite 160 prior to 4:30pm on Friday, May 19.

During this voting period, the NCO has made computers available to the public at these locations:

· Kapolei Hale conference room C, 1000 Ulu'ohi'a Street (Monday thru Friday from8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)

· Kapalama Hale, Suite 160, 925 Dillingham Boulevard (Monday thru Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)

· The KEY project in Kahalu‘u at 47-200 Waihe‘e Road from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

· Any public library on O'ahu within the Hawai'i State Public Library System (see library hours)

Election results will be announced no later than June 1, 2017.

Voting For Kaneohe Neighborhood Board Seats Will Begin April 28, Run Through May 19

Local residents will select their next Neighborhood Board in an island-wide election that begins later this month.

The election will be held from April 28 through May 19. Eligible voters will receive passcodes that allow them to cast ballots by computer or telephone. Paper ballots will not be used.

Nineteen community members are up for election for the Kaneohe Neighborhood Board. The candidates will contest three at-large positons and seats representing nine sub-districts. No candidate filed for five sub-districts.

A complete list of candidates is available on the Honolulu Neighborhood Commission website (scroll down to the list for District 30). Candidate profiles also are available online.

The Kaneohe Neighborhood Board represents District 30 in the Neighborhood Commission classification system. The Board is made up of three at-large seats and 14 seats serving specific sub-districts. An online map shows the territory covered by District 30. Residents may check an online street index to determine which sub-district includes their street address.

Currently, three seats are unfilled on the Board and have no candidates filed for the election. Those seats represent Sub-District 2 (Crown Terrace); Sub-District 3 (Haiku Village/Plantations); and Sub-District 6 (Waikalua). In addition, no candidate has filed for Sub-District 1 (Ali’I Landing/Ali’I Shores) or Sub-District 5 (Lilipuna/Kahanahou).

The Board members who are elected this spring will be authorized to fill empty seats by appointment after their terms begin July 1.

19 Seek Seats On Kaneohe Neighborhood Board; Election Is Scheduled For April 28-May 19

The Honolulu Neighborhood Commission reports that the candidates will contest three at-large positions and seats representing nine sub-districts. No candidate is listed for five sub-districts.

About The Board

The Kaneohe Neighborhood Board holds an agenda planning meeting the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Kaneohe Community and Senior Center, 45-613 Puohala Street. The Board holds its regular business meeting on the third Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. at Benjamin Parker Elementary School, 45-259 Waikalua Road.

Board meetings are open forums where residents can learn about what’s going on in the community and bring their concerns directly to the attention of government representatives and elected officials. 

Information Sessions For Potential O‘Ahu Neighborhood Board Candidates To Be Held

Honolulu – The Neighborhood Commission Office will host information sessions for people interested in being a candidate for the 2017 Neighborhood Board elections. There are 437 seats available for 33 neighborhood boards across O‘ahu. Candidate recruitment has begun and will end on February 17, 2017. Candidacy is open to O‘ahu residents who will be at least 18 years of age by February 17, 2017.

Three information sessions are scheduled for:

·         Wednesday, February 8, 2017 – HPU Aloha Tower, Multi-Purpose Room 3 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

·         Thursday, February 9, 2017 – Kailua District Park, Multi-Purpose Room from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

·         Monday, February 13, 2017 – Kapolei Hale, Conference Room A & B from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Neighborhood board members and Neighborhood Commission Office staff will be on hand to answer questions from potential candidates.

“Neighborhood boards serve as an important nexus for citizen and government interaction. We hope to get as many candidates as possible to increase civic engagement on O‘ahu,” said Shawn Hamamoto, Executive Secretary of the Neighborhood Commission Office. “It is important that we give the public access to their elected officials and other government agencies.”

The voting period for neighborhood board elections will begin on April 28, 2017, and end on May 19, 2017. Elected board members serve a two-year term, starting on July 1, 2017. All board members are volunteers.
