Board Business: The only items of Board business are adoption of minutes from our most recent regular and agenda-planning meetings.

Other Business: Our agenda always includes time for reports from the Fire and Police Departments, Marine Corps Base Hawaii, elected officials from the state and local levels, community organizations, and our Board committees.

Agenda Planning Update: At this month’s agenda planning meeting, on April 4, we voted to oppose an extension of the community growth boundary in Kahalu’u. The resolution says extending the boundary could create a “domino effect” leading to “urbanization of valuable farmlands and watersheds throughout the rest of the Windward coast.” The vote on the resolution was 9-0, with two members voting by teleconference. Impact Of Speeding Vehicles On Residents To Be Discussed By Kaneohe Neighborhood Board

Late-Night Speeders: Carol Lee is scheduled to give a presentation about late-night speeding through the Puohala neighborhood. Ms. Lee told our August planning meeting that on numerous occasions, speeding vehicles had hit a wall in front of her house on Pua Alowalo Street. She said she has gathered signatures from neighbors who agree that something needs to be done about the speeding. Actions such as traffic calming and more police presence in the neighborhood were discussed at the planning meeting. We look forward to learning more about this situation.

Other Business: We also are planning to discuss state legislation and a possible banner to raise awareness of Board meetings. In addition, our agenda always includes time for reports from the Fire and Police Departments, Marine Corps Base Hawaii, elected officials from the state and local levels, community organizations, and our Board committees.

Vacant Seats: Two seats are currently open on the Board. They represent Sub-District 8, Kapunahala; and Sub-District 12, Pikoiloa.The Board is authorized to fill vacancies by appointment. Community members may indicate their interest by contacting Board Chairman Mo Radke or by attending a Board meeting. A map of the district is available online, as is a street index that is organized by sub-district (search for District 30 in the index, then find the sub-district).
