A special meeting of the Kaneohe Neighborhood Board will be held on Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. at Benjamin Parker School.  Our potluck/social is the only meeting of the year to focus on getting acquainted with your Board Members and other leaders in our community. (Click here for the official agenda.)

Enjoy our food and take the opportunity to visit with your neighbors.  Learn about our major projects and how you can become more active in our community.  Kaneohe is blessed by many organizations working to make Kaneohe an even more livable community. 

The Blue Zone Project is working in Windward Oahu to help us live a long, healthy and active life.

Many of us are working to make Kaneohe a more resilient community.  We have active Citizen Emergency Response Teams(CERT) and on going training in our Hazard Awareness and Response Program(HARP) and CERT programs.  Hawaii HAM Radio operators will play a key communications roll in any emergency.  Many of us are getting our HAM license so we will be better able to ask for help. 

We are reviewing the Hawaii State Hospital Master Plan and its impact on Windward Community College.

You Neighborhood Board is the Community Liaison to all levels of Government (check out the minutes of our November meeting for some examples).  When you have a problem, or if you are aware of anything we can do to make Kaneohe an even better place to live, bring it to your Neighborhood Board.

MCBH Community Outreach

Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCB Hawaii) is in the process of developing a
notification system to inform interested parties and the public about US
Marine Corps actions in the State of Hawai'i with the potential to affect
historic properties.

As part of this process, MCB Hawaii intends to hold
meetings on Hawai'i Island, O'ahu, and Kaua'i to solicit ideas on the best
ways to provide notifications, what kind of functionality is desired (e.g.,
website, email notification, newsletter, etc.), and other attributes that
should be considered.

THE OAHU PUBLIC MEETING IS SCHEDULED FOR:

Kaneohe Neighborhood Meeting will be 6/20/13

The Kaneohe Neighborhood Meeting will be 6/20/13 at 7pm at the Ben Parker School Cafetorium. This is the last meeting for some members whose term will be ending. July marks the installation of the new Board.

The Neighbohood Board Meeting is the place to come to learn what is going on in Kaneohe. The agenda this month focuses on the elderly. @Dan Cody will make a presentation on Senior Assisted Living and the County Prosecutors office will talk about Elder Abuse.

Do you have a community issue you want to discuss? Bring it to the board and step forward when we ask for public input and community concerns.

F/A-18 Hornets will be based at Marine Corps Base Hawaii during exercise “Lava Viper” which is tentatively scheduled for July 11-27.

MAYOR CALDWELL ANNOUNCES TOWN HALL MEETING SCHEDULE

Honolulu – 4/26/13, Mayor Caldwell announced a series of six town hall meetings that will be held across Oahu during the month of May. The meetings will include updates on the Mayor’s priorities and how they are addressed in the budget, and touch on issues specific to each community.  The Mayor will be joined by cabinet members to provide information and field questions relating to his top priorities of fixing our roads, restoring TheBus service, investing in our sewer infrastructure, beautifying our parks, building rail better, and addressing homelessness.

 The Kaneohe meeting will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Monday, May 20  at the                  Kaneohe Community and Senior Center.

    Attending the meeting will be MajGen Talleri (Commanding General, Marine Corps Installations Pacific) and MajGen Owens (Commanding General, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing) as well as Base Commander Col Brian P. Anacharicho and other MCBH leadership.
     Our appreciation goes out to the Base Comand for reaching out to our community by providing this opportunity to have concerns and questions answered regarding base policy and operations.

Meet the Marine Corps Base Hawaii leadership

The Marine leadership will host a meeting on 24 April in the Kainalu Elementary School cafeteria from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. 2 Marine Corps Generals and our legislators will be present. This event is open to the public. The noise has been better and we appreciate the efforts that have been made. That said, attending this meeting and others like it will help insure neighborly flying and continued noise abatement measures going forward. If you are concerned with more intense MCBH training schedule and the noise impact it will cause attend this meeting. the F18s will be back in July from the 10th till the 27th. Their training schedule will be from noon till 11pm with maintenance run ups from 11pm till their maintenance is pau. Put in your ear plugs and get a good nights sleep.
